About John Calamos Sr

John P. Calamos was born in Chicago in 1940 and graduated with a BS in economics and an MBA in finance from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He joined the United States Air Force after graduation and served as a combat pilot during the Vietnam War and earned the rank of major. John is the chairman, CEO and CIO of Calamos Asset Management which he founded in 1977. He is a member of the Investment Analysts Society of Chicago and has written two books on investing. Outside of fund management he enjoys piloting, golf and tennis.
