About Joseph Wat
Singapore-born Joseph Wat obtained his degree in accounting from his home country’s National University. His career in finance spans more than twenty years, beginning in the auditing department of Arthur Andersen in 1991. Since then he has held the following positions: assistant treasurer at DBS Bank; research analyst at Schroders; associate director at Invesco; director at Deutsche Asset Management; and fund adviser at Atlantis, where he has been since 2008. Joseph’s long-term, fundamental, primary research-driven investment style aims for both growth and value. He combines a top-down view into the portfolio with company valuation measures – price-to-earnings, book and cash flow, and discounted cash flow. The most favourable conditions for Joseph’s strategy are when the market is recovering from the bottom of its cycle.
